What we believe at Eden Chapel about God, the Bible, and the Church

Our Beliefs

At Eden Chapel, we accept the scriptures as our only authority in matters of faith and practice and our interpretation of Bible doctrine leads us inexorably to believe:

The Bible

The scriptures of the Old and New Testament as being verbally inspired by God and inerrant and infallible in the original writings, and that they are of supreme and final authority.

THE TRINITY

In one God eternally existing in one essence, yet co-equal persons, the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ was begotten by God, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross in our place, was buried, and rose from the dead three days later. After appearing to many, He ascended to the right hand of the Father, where He now intercedes for us.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He is the life of the believer and He empowers the preaching and teaching of the Gospel.

MANKIND

Mankind was created in the image of God, male and female. Mankind sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death, but spiritual death, which is separation from God, and that human beings are born with a sinful nature.

THE RECONCILIATION

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and enter into the presence of God, we must repent of our sins, believe in Jesus and His finished work, and walk in the new life He freely gives us.

THE CHURCH

The Church, whose mission it is to preach the Scriptures to all the world, is the bride of Christ, bought by His blood. All of its endeavors are guided by multiple leadership and supported by the wise stewardship of God’s people.

the family

God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God’s unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church.

Children are a gift from the Lord. They are like arrows in the hands of a warrior. Family is the primary place where children are discipled to know and love Jesus Christ and thus sent into the world to make Him known.
